Instant water heaters
An instant heater heats water as it flows through, only when you turn on the shower. It is small, mounted in the bathroom, and usually serves one shower point.
- Good for: one bathroom, one or two users, small spaces
- Pros: compact, lower upfront cost, no waiting for water to heat
- Cons: serves one point only, needs decent water pressure to switch on
Storage water heaters
A storage heater heats a tank of water and keeps it hot. One unit can supply several bathrooms and the kitchen.
- Good for: families, multiple bathrooms, hot water at the kitchen sink
- Pros: supplies several points at once, steady temperature
- Cons: takes space (often above the false ceiling), needs time to reheat after heavy use

Installation notes
