Plumbing prices vary a lot between jobs. Here is what actually drives the cost, and how to make sure you get a fair quote.
What affects the price
- Type of job. Replacing a tap is quicker than tracing a hidden leak in a wall.
- Parts. A basic tap and a premium mixer are very different prices. Heaters vary even more.
- Access. Exposed pipes are faster to work on than concealed ones that need hacking.
- Timing. Some plumbers charge more for late nights, weekends or public holidays.
- Extent of damage. A single leaking joint costs less than replacing a corroded pipe run.
How to get an accurate quote
